Richardson, TX – October 23, 2014 – ModoPayments, or just Modo to its friends, is delighted to announce that several teams of developers (coders, devs, hackers, haxors, programmers, etc.) have been named as winners in Modo’s contest to generate ideas for beautiful buying experiences*. The contest is focused on generating new ideas for the Money 2020 Hackathon on November 1 and 2 in Las Vegas. There are over $125,000 in prizes available to winning teams at the Money 2020 Hackathon, as well as three specific Modo challenges to developers who choose to use the Modo platform for their app. The Modo challenges include demonstrating knowing more and selling more to win a shopping spree, using loyalty as a currency to win 1 million loyalty points, and building a beautiful buying experience* to win a dinner a premiere restaurant for the team and their guests.
“At Modo, we believe in contests. Often times, they can end up being violent. However, this time around, we’ve seen only fair play and great ideas from some super smart dev teams. Which is encouraging news regarding the young people these days. Their ideas are all about changing the buying experience to first of all use the mobile device, and second make it beautiful. Third, and optional in my mind, is changing the world” claimed Bruce Parker, founder and CEO of ModoPayments.
One of the winning submissions came from a team of students at the University of Pennsylvania, which includes several participants and winners from the Penn Apps hackathon, the largest student run hackathon in the country. Team organizer, and engineering sophomore, Sacha Best said, “Sure, we have hacked and won at some of the largest and most competitive hackathons in the country. But this is Vegas, baby. That’s so much cooler than hanging in the dorm. Seriously, we’re going to rock this out.” Fellow students Nova Fallen, Joyce Lee and Sebastian Lozano will join Sacha.
While three of the ten beautiful idea contest slots have been claimed, there are still seven more waiting for readers who have beautiful ideas, and want to come to Las Vegas to participate in the Money20/20 Hackathon. Winners of the beautiful idea contest will receive up to $500 for hotel costs in Vegas while participating in the Hackathon. See the details at www.modopayments.com/contest. “Submit your ideas, and join us in Vegas. Hacking is what has made this country great. Making it beautiful, well, that’s just something Modo believes in,” exclaimed Bruce.
