QA Automation Engineer

Who is Modo?

We are an innovative startup in the FinTech space looking for Senior Test Engineering talent who can help us remake the world of payments, building the digital bridges from any monetary source and delivering it to any payments destination. Working for Modo presents great technical and leadership development opportunities including working with a broad technology stack, project lead opportunities, and the opportunity to guide and influence the future of our platform architecture, stack, and tool set!

Modo digital payments solutions sit on top of single or multi-tenant AWS Cloud infrastructures with a Modo COIN core back-end and several app servers with client-facing APIs on the front-end. Front-end development may be a simple app server or full consumer-facing application.  Modo specializes in interoperability by assisting large organizations in new innovative solutions by connecting to many 3rd party payment systems for pay-outs, pay-ins, fraud, and settlement.

What’s in it for you?

If you want to work on the absolute cutting-edge of IT, HERE is where you want to be. We are a full Linux and AWS shop, committed to modern approaches to addressing complex problems. The ideal candidate will be a person with a strong technical background writing API tests and automating them, and otherwise adept at forging innovative approaches to the SDLC problem. You’ll work with technologies like Postman, Test Automation, Back-End Code & Front-End App Testing, CloudFormation, Elastic Beanstalk, SQL, CodePipeline, Scripting (in various forms), TeamCity, Atlassian Tools, and more. More importantly, there are far more interesting problems left ahead of us than behind, and we want people who can help us figure out how to solve those – help choose the right tools to leverage, how to integrate it, how to automate it, how to scale it, and how to make it highly available. This is NOT just a role of rinse-and-repeat implementations of what came before – there are real opportunities ahead and we want people who desire to make a serious difference in our success and be more than just a cog in the machine.

What’s expected of you?

Nothing short of being a difference-maker who will help us take the next big step forward in evolving the company to take on some key new use cases and keeping us abreast of thought leadership as we grow. We need someone who enjoys helping others get better and improving our collective work product and takes pride in their contribution to the team’s success. You will have opportunities to conceive and develop unique software QA and testing innovations. You should also be willing and confident to pitch in where needed: Support, Demos, and Release Management.  It’s a key role for us, and for the right person, a great opportunity to advance your career and add new responsibilities that open the door to bigger and better things!

What makes this different?

We offer a unique opportunity to enjoy an awesome small company startup culture with tons of flexibility, creativity, freedom, and cool perks (think top-notch work laptop, quarterly company events, and a fridge stocked with drinks & snacks), while doing significant high-visibility work solving the needs of businesses as large as the Fortune 50 (your work can become things people know about and use!). If you’re the rock star on your current team, a person with big ideas for how to solve the problems plaguing your business but have been held back from making a full impact by limitations of your current role or employer, then this might be the EXACT kind of role you’ve been waiting for.
